Lamprologus callipterus is a species of cichlid endemic to Lake Tanganyika where it very actively moves about in search of crustaceans and other invertebrates. Males of this species can reach a length of 12.4 centimetres TL while the females only grow to 4.5 centimetres TL. Wikipedia
Lamprologus Callipterus are known as “The shell collector” because the males will carry shells in their mouth and take them into their nest. Males can make mounds or piles of 50-100 shells that they will call their home. Many females may live in the same nest with one male as he actively defends the territory.
